Marion is centred on Westfield Marion, one of Adelaide’s largest shopping centres, with Marion Road and Sturt Road as its main roads. Much of the housing dates from the decades after the Second World War: brick homes on quarter-acre blocks, many with a driveway and a carport, alongside newer homes and townhouses on subdivided land. Check the rules before moving day and let the neighbours know. Anzac Highway itself is a busy main road, so a home that faces it usually means parking in a side street.
Brighton and the beachfront
Brighton runs along the coast south of Glenelg, with Jetty Road, the Brighton Jetty and the Esplanade at its heart. Beachside homes and apartment buildings bring the coastal version of a furniture move. Apartments mean lifts that may need booking, loading areas, building rules on moving hours and protection for common areas. Beachfront streets get busy on warm weekends, so parking close to the door is easier early in the day and on weekdays. Sea air and sand are hard on furniture too, which is one more reason every piece is blanketed and wrapped before it leaves the room.
